The intent of our PSHE curriculum is to deliver a curriculum which is accessible to all and that will maximise the outcomes for every child so that they know more, remember more and understand more.
At Barns Green Primary School, it is our intent that personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education enables our children to become healthy, independent and responsible members of a modern and diverse society. It aims to help them understand how they are developing personally and socially, and tackles many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up.
Our children are encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth by playing a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community.
The curriculum helps the children build a positive self-image in order to develop healthy relationships with others. It is interwoven with the behaviour and ethos of the school.
We also ensure we have a clear and structured SRE syllabus which is delivered throughout the school in the summer term.
The school has a number of PSHCE focused workshops, themed weeks and visits to cater for the needs of our school community. These include, anti-bulling week, NSPCC workshops, Rail safety workshops and visits from fire safety officers and police the police.
